Citrus Bergamia
The bergamot tree was originally cultivated in Italy, where the fruit has a history of use in folk medicine.
The refreshing essential oil is expressed from the peel of the fruit, which resembles a small yellow orange, when it is nearly ripe. Outside Italy, bergamot is perhaps best known as an ingredient in both Earl Grey tea and eau de Cologne.
PROPERTIES AND USES
Joyous and uplifting, bergamot is a powerful antidepressant which has a wonderfully balancing effect on moods. As an antiseptic it is good for acne and boils.
